Matt Kirk was born and raised in the Texas Hill Country and has been playing music all of his life.  He is the son of a revered regional singer named Sylvia Kirk and a father with a vast musical palate.  He has spent the past twenty some odd years honing a voice and a style that has always been his own which was created through the obligatory life experience, local musical influences and mentors, tragedy, travel, love life, family, and some large life wins. Matt's musical influences range wide from Tejano to heavy metal and everything in between. These influences, life experiences and all the late nights in the clubs of San Antonio and central Texas, and the back of pick-up trucks for drunken co-workers, listening rooms, river outfitters, weddings, funerals, the Virgin Islands, vineyards, and legendary music halls have led to a diverse original sound. Matt banded together with some of the best musicians of the area in 2020 and formed The Güeyfarers. The band consists of Matt Cain on keys, Jimmy Hartman on bass and vocals, Brandon Custer on drums and seasoned veteran Eric Demmer on sax. They released their full length debut album in the fall of 2022, it has been well received and shines with diversity.
