The Gueyfarers (pronounced Wayfarers) are Matt Kirk on lead vocals, guitars, mandolin and harmonica, Jimmy Hartman on bass and harmony vocals, Brandon Custer on drums, Matt Cain on organ and piano, and Eric Demmer on saxophone and harmony vocals.

The band released their debut self-titled album (recorded at The Zone with Pat Manske) in October 2022, launching them into the public eye and attracting a loyal, growing fan base around central Texas. Formed from the deep musical tradition of the Texas Hill Country and the artists that have graced the historic stage at Gruene Hall, the Gueyfarers’ sound combines all elements of Texas music to form a unique blend of Americana, blues, folk, rock, and country. The band playfully calls their sound, "Texacana".

After five years of playing Gruene Hall monthly, the band has begun to branch out into other markets, playing the 8750 Festival in Red River, New Mexico for three years consecutively, playing the Saxon Pub and C-Boys in Austin, Dan Electro’s in Houston, Sam’s Burger Joint Music Hall in San Antonio, along with tours in Colorado and throughout small town Texas.

In February of 2024, Matt toured with the world-renowned Gipsy Kings, opening their shows solo acoustic at acclaimed Texas venues including The Majestic Theater, Buddy Holly Center, The Paramount Theatre, The Selena Auditorium and House of Blues Dallas and Houston.

Since their self-titled debut, and the success of their single, “Sleepy Little Summertime Town”, the band has earned regular radio play on KNBT 92.1 FM Radio New Braunfels, KWVH Wimberley Valley Radio, and KYSM San Antonio College Radio among others. Matt and the band have been featured on Roots and Branches of Americana, Sun Radio (Texas Radio Live) in Austin, as well as making TV appearances on Great Day SA. In the recent Best of New Braunfels poll in the Herald Zeitung, the band placed 2nd behind the Randy Rogers Band.

In 2024, the band released singles including “Nobody But You”, recorded with producer Dwight Baker (Flatland Cavalry, Josh Abbott Band, Kelly Clarkson), and “Praying For Rain” with producer David Beck (Shiny Ribs, The Droptines, Cameron Allbright).

Matt Kirk and The Gueyfarers recorded their first live album in July 2025 at Gruene Hall with plans to release it in both digital and vinyl formats in 2026.
