SOLO EPK

A native of the Texas Hill Country, Matt Kirk is a second-generation, lifer musician. He was raised in a musically rich environment surrounded by the area's best players—most of whom are gone now—and cut his teeth on marathon gigs. After years of chasing his shadow back and forth between the Hill Country and the Caribbean, Matt decided it was time to knuckle down, buckle down, and do it, putting a band, The Güeyfarers, together in 2020.

However, Matt was grinding out acoustic solo gigs for many years before that. Now with two records out, Matt is at home with both the band and solo. After a recent live recording at the Redbird Listening Room in New Braunfels, Matt has settled into the art of storytelling and song, always writing from the human experience: love, despair, self-help, hope, and feeling good, all under the same umbrella.

 

As a solo act, Matt has opened for the Gipsy Kings, Steve Earle, Monte Montgomery, Bob Schneider, Blues Traveler, and Sixpence None the Richer, to name a few. Matt is eager to get out in front of new faces, see new places, and spread joy through song to anyone and all who will listen.
